Course Outline

Prerequisite/Recommendations:  A or B in Junior English and consent of the teacher.

This course is designed to prepare students for college-level English.  Expectations are high and the reading and workloads are heavy.  Students read extensively from the anthology Classics in World Literature as well as study full length plays and novels.  Students are expected to participate in in-depth class discussion of the literature, produce a research paper, write take-home essay tests, write in-class essays, write analytical essays, produce one book review essay each quarter, and engage in vocabulary study throughout the year.
